North Balga Primary School implements a whole school approach towards teaching mathematics.

The Mathematics curriculum of our school is based around the three content strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability.

Whole School Approaches:

• Primary Maths (Pre- Primary to Year 2)
• iMaths (Year 3 to Year 6)

Staff use these approaches to complement the Mathematics planning documents from the WA Curriculum to inform their planning, teaching, assessments and reporting. Our lessons follow the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model, where teachers begin with explicit teaching (I do), the class works together on the concept (we do), before the students then work independently on tasks (you do).

Teachers and Education Assistants work collaboratively to provide fun and engaging

hands-on experiences for our students to learn and showcase their knowledge.
