Attendance

North Balga Primary School

We want to make sure all children get the best education possible which is why attending school every day is so important.

Western Australian law stipulates that all school-aged children must go to and attend school every day.

At North Balga PS we have made a conscious move from monitoring and managing attendance to an approach that focusses on promotion, early intervention and response to improving student attendance. These approaches are enacted in partnership with students, parents, families and the community.

Late Students

At North Balga PS classrooms are open at 8.30am each morning. The school bell rings at 8.45am which is when formal learning begins. If your child arrives after 8.45am, they are late and must receive a late note from the office. Developing the habit of going to school every day is vital so children do not miss out on important ideas and skills they need for future learning.

If one of your children is unwell and unable to go to school, let us know straight away by calling 9442 9000 or messaging 0438 957 108.

If they miss a day it is important you talk with their teacher to find out how you can help them catch up. If your child cannot attend school because of their mental or physical health, contact our school to see what options are available for your child.

Absent Students

Under Department of Education regulations, absence from school should only be for illness, medical or dental appointments.

Absences for all other purposes are discouraged. Students are expected to attend school for the entire day.
